Product Description

Built from weathering carbon steel, these units are secure from wind, water, vermin and thieves.

The longer and less commonly available 40ft container is suited to large sites with ample space for onsite storage. Measuring just over 12 metres long, these usually do not suit standard residential blocks, although they can be squeezed onto large driveways in some cases.

Given the large internal volume, they are often used for more than just household or business goods storage. They are an affordable and ready-made alternate solution to sheds or workshops. They can store machinery and equipment parts, or be used for site offices or accommodation away from the main building, with some minor modifications.

Whatever you store in your 40ft shipping container, you can rest assured it will be safe.

40ft shipping containers for sale

A new shipping container will ensure quality and longevity, while a used container will save you money.

For cargo to be transported internationally, the container must have a valid CSC (Container Safety Convention) plate, which verifies that safety inspections have been performed. Our ‘New’ grade containers ensure CSC approval, as well as clean interiors.

While our ‘B’ grade containers may have marked interiors & some exterior corrosion, they remain windtight & watertight.

For less critical applications, you may save cost with a ‘C’ grade container, which will show more advanced corrosion.

See our Shipping Containers Buyer's Guide to get a better understanding of the options available.

Hiring 40ft shipping containers

If you don't need to keep or modify a container, you should consider hiring a 40ft shipping container instead. It is a much cheaper option than buying, and you will have access to the newest units in the fleet.

Remember that hiring shipping containers is an operating cost and can be tax deductible. With a minimum contract term of 31 days, hiring is often a better solution than buying containers.

How is this container delivered?

SCF Shipping Containers - Delivery Method - Tilt Tray

Tilt Tray

Tilt tray delivers a container off the back of the truck. Similar to a tow truck, the tray is mechanically lowered at an angle, and the container is slid off, with the truck moving forward at slow speed. This is the most common delivery method used for containers. Tilt trays are not suitable for sites with overhead power lines as the container height increases significantly when tilted.

SCF Shipping Containers - Delivery Method - Side Loader

Side Loader

Side loaders are used to transport our 20 foot and 40 foot shipping containers. This is the best delivery method for containers at sites that have limited space either in front or behind the area where the container is to be positioned. The container is unloaded between the two outrigger feet of the side loader, approximately half a metre from the side of the truck.

SCF Shipping Containers - Delivery Method - Hiab Crane

Hiab Crane

Hiab cranes lift containers from a mechanism located behind the truck's cabin. This is used when there is limited space for a side loader or tilt tray. Using a crane means the container is easily positioned at an angle or up on a raised area. It can also be used to place containers over a fence or other obstacles.
